This mango kale baby puree is one of my girl’s favorite purees. She eats it all up every time. The kale baby food recipe contains 2 cups of kale to 1 cup of mango, so it has more veggies than fruit.

I wish I could say that my girl loves plain vegetable purees, but she doesn’t so I combine vegetables with fruit and she loves them!

Benefits of Kale for Babies

Kale is a nutritional powerhouse for babies with essential nutrients for immune support, including zinc, vitamin C, vitamin A, selenium, and iron. 17 % of kale is protein. Both hemp and kale are excellent plant-based protein sources in this kale puree for babies.

The leafy green kale is exceptionally high in vitamin K, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C.

Vitamin K is essential for blood clotting, and vitamin A and C are crucial nutrients for optimal immune function.

Kale also contains the essential omega 3 and 6 fats in a perfect ratio. These healthy fats are necessary for brain health and building healthy cell membranes.

The B vitamins and magnesium in kale will energize your baby as they are essential for producing energy in the body.

The calcium in kale also helps to build healthy bones!

Mango is the perfect fruit to sweeten this kale puree for babies naturally and is also an excellent source of vitamin A and C for immune system support.

I added hemp seeds to this puree to help ensure the essential amino acids and fatty acids intake. Hemp seeds score a 5-star nutrition rating for babies from solid starts, and kale scores four stars.

How to make a kale puree for babies with mango

To make this baby kale puree start by washing the kale under running water, then shake the kale leaves to get off the excess water. Rip the leaves off the stem and place a double boiler’s top pot over boiling water.

Steam the kale for 5 minutes, then add the frozen mango chunks and steam for another 5 minutes.

Place the mango and kale and ¼ cup of water into a high-speed blender with hemp seeds and blend for 30 seconds or until you have a smooth puree.

If you don’t have a high-speed blender such as a Vitamix or optimum 9200 blenders, you can use a food processor instead to make the baby kale puree.

I invested in a high-speed blender, and it was the best investment ever, especially now that I am making baby puree recipes. Not a day goes by where I don’t use my blender, and I am so happy to have such a powerful and easy-to-use blender!

Freeze the kale baby puree with mango into portions in a rubber ice cube tray and pull out as needed. Now get your baby eating this nutritious kale puree for babies six months and older.
