Just days after Xander Schauffele hoisted the Claret Jug, the PGA Tour is back in action stateside for the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities. Many of the circuit’s best players are taking the week off, but there are still a few names to keep an eye on in Blaine, Minnesota.
Tony Finau, the 2022 3M Open champion, headlines the field after missing the cut at Royal Troon and is joined by Sam Burns, Sahith Theegala, Akshay Bhatia, Keegan Bradley and amateur sensation Luke Clanton.
With just one regular season event left on the schedule after this week — Wyndham Championship, Aug 8-11 — the pressure is on to gain as many FedEx Cup points as possible. Several players in the field are on the playoff bubble, including Keith Mitchell, Lee Hodges and Joel Dahmen.
The 3M winner will earn 500 FedEx Cup points and $1.458 million of the $8.1 million purse.

Picks to win
Akshay Bhatia (22/1)
Akshay Bhatia waves at fans after putting the 9th during Round 3 of Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club in Detroit on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
Before a missed cut at The Open, Bhatia had a great four-event stretch: T-2 (Rocket Mortgage), T-4 (Travelers), T-16 (U.S. Open) and T-22 (Memorial).
This will be Bhatia’s 3M Open debut, but his game should play nicely at TPC Twin Cities.
Luke Clanton (25/1)

The amateur is 4/4 in made cuts this season and has posted a few high finishes: T-10 (Rocket Mortgage Classic) and T-2 (John Deere Classic). His ball-striking and driving distance are a perfect fit for this golf course, and he’s already shown the bright lights of the PGA Tour aren’t too much for him. Plus, an amateur already won on Tour this season (Nick Dunlap, American Express) so why not make it two?
Maverick McNealy (40/1)

McNealy has been sniffing around his first PGA Tour win with three top-10 finishes so far this season. An 81 in blustery conditions pushed him to the wrong side of the cut line at The Open, but he’s been playing solid golf. He finished T-23 at the PGA Championship, T-17 at the Charles Schwab Challenge and T-7 at the RBC Canadian Open.
In 2021, McNealy grabbed a top-20 finish at this event (T-16).
Adam Hadwin (40/1)

Hadwin has seen some success at this golf course in the past, with a fourth-place finish in 2019 and a tie for sixth in 2021.
Data Golf’s No. 1 course comparison is the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort, the host of the Valspar Championship. Hadwin’s lone Tour victory came at that event in 2017 and he’s placed inside the top 10 on a few occasions since then.
If the Canadian’s putter cooperates, he could make a run.
Max Greyserman (65/1)

Greyserman is making his 3M Open debut this week, but has played great golf over the last month and a half: T-21 (U.S. Open), T-31 (Rocket Mortgage), T-26 (John Deere Classic), T-21 (Genesis Scottish Open) and T-13 (Barracuda Championship).
He ranks 14th in driving distance this season and he can take advantage of that around TPC Twin Cities.
